New ideas that meet unmet needs
“Society’s progress relies on individuals that challenge the status quo”

What is Social Innovation?
A novel solution to a social problem that is more effective, efficient, sustainable, or just than existing solutions and for which the value created accrues primarily to society as a whole rather than private individuals (Phills et al, 2008).
Around the world, healthcare systems are facing similar challenges of increasing access to care, reducing inequity, and improving quality.
Selfless aims to address these challenges in two ways:
1. Sharing our ideas and skills: We believe that human endeavour is the most potent tool in bringing about transformational change. For example, we facilitate the sharing of healthcare expertise and creation of sustainable healthcare links through volunteering – we call this ‘skillanthropy’. We also blog, tweet, produce reports and hold seminars to share our thoughts on improving healthcare.
2. Through innovative technology: We like to create technology that will enable us to achieve our aim of better healthcare for all. We are interested in prototyping new ideas in a local and global health context that may disrupt the way healthcare is delivered.
Selfless was established by young people committed to improving the world around them. We have now grown into an award winning social enterprise expanding our operations across the UK and internationally. We retain the same core value that anyone, given the right opportunities, can bring about lasting change.
